The Need
Single Point vs. Two-Point Fixation
The high re-tear rates of single point fixation have caused surgeons to research more robust suture-anchor configurations like double-row fixation:
- Published research supports the benefits of two point fixation for rotator cuff repair 5-15
- Two-point fixation better replicates the natural anatomic footprint of the rotator cuff's connection to bone
- An anatomic-like repair footprint will improve structural and functional outcomes 5,7,10-13,15
- In both cadaveric cyclical loading tests 5,7,11,13,15 and retrospective clinical analysis 6,14 double-row fixation techniques showed better structural outcomes when compared to single-point fixation techniques
